Supplementary content
What it is for
Supplementary content in Membership is extra content — for example bonus videos, webinar recordings or materials for a bundle. Inside it is built like a course (modules and lessons), but it is not sold on its own and it is not in the Course catalog. A member reaches it through a tile you place on the bundle page, on the membership home page or in a course sidebar.
Differences from a course:
| Course | Supplementary content | |
|---|---|---|
| sold through a product | yes | no |
| in the Course catalog | yes | no |
| intro video, learning settings | yes | no |
| certificate on completion | yes | no — progress is tracked, but it is never completed as a course |

Where to find it
- In the left menu, click Membership → Membership administration.
- In the tabs under the heading click Courses & bundles.
- Supplementary content has the label Supplementary content in the Type column. Show only that via Filters → Type → Supplementary content.
Clicking the row opens the supplementary content editor. It has only two tabs: Content (modules and lessons) and Settings (details, links, deletion).
How to create supplementary content
Before you start: upload the videos you want to use to the Video library. You need the permission Courses and content → Create.
- In the left menu, click Membership → Membership administration → Courses & bundles.
- At the top right, click Create.
- In the menu, click Supplementary content.
- The page New supplementary content opens. In the Details card fill in:
| Field | Required | What it means | Limits / default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Course Title | yes | the name of the supplementary content on its tile | max. 255 characters |
| Draft / Published switch | no | whether members will see it | Draft by default |
| Cover Image | no | the tile image | an image, max. 5 MB |
| Description | no | text about the content | formatted text |
- Optionally add links in the Links card (Add link).
- At the bottom, click Save.
The editor opens on the Content tab.
How to add modules and lessons to supplementary content
You add modules and lessons exactly as in a course:
- In the supplementary content editor, click Content in the tabs.
- Click Add Module, fill in Module Title and click Save.
- Expand the module by clicking its card and click Add Lesson.
- Fill in Lesson Title, choose the Lesson Type; for Video click Choose from library and pick a video, for Text write the Content.
- Click Save.
All fields and options (reordering by dragging, editing, deleting) are described in the chapter Courses & bundles.
How to publish supplementary content
- In the editor, click Settings in the tabs.
- In the Details card, switch Draft to Published.
- At the top right, click Save.
Members do not see unpublished supplementary content, even when its tile is on the page.
How to give bundle members access to supplementary content
Access to supplementary content comes from placing its tile on the bundle page. Whoever owns the bundle also has this content.
Before you start: the supplementary content must be Published and the bundle must exist (see Bundles). You need the permission Courses and content → Edit.
- In the left menu, click Membership → Membership administration → Courses & bundles.
- Click the bundle's row.
- In the tabs of the bundle editor click Appearance.
- In the Bundle page card, click Add section and choose Tiles (or open an existing Tiles section with the source My own pick).
- In the What to show field, choose My own pick.
- In the Section content part, click Add item and choose Supplementary content.
- Start typing the name in the field (Start typing a title…) and pick the supplementary content.
- At the top right, click Save.
WARNING
Access to supplementary content comes from it being on this page. Remove the tile and members lose it — their saved progress stays.
One piece of supplementary content can be in several bundles at once.
How to check it works
- In the bundle editor on the Appearance tab, click Preview.
- The bundle page must show the supplementary content tile.
- A bundle member can open it; someone without the bundle sees it locked.
How to show supplementary content on the home page or in a course
- Membership home page — in Settings → Home page add a Tiles section and choose the source Supplementary content (automatically shows the supplementary content the member has), or My own pick → Add item → Supplementary content. On the home page a tile does not grant access: Only members of the bundle it belongs to can open it. Everyone else sees it locked. See Home page.
- Course sidebar — in the course editor, the Appearance tab → Add item → Supplementary content. The course's students then see its lessons right in the panel next to the player. See Courses & bundles.
How to delete supplementary content
- In the supplementary content editor, click Settings in the tabs.
- At the bottom, in the Delete course card, click Delete and confirm.
Or on the Courses & bundles screen via "…" → Delete. You need the permission Courses and content → Delete. Deletion cannot be undone and the content disappears from every bundle and page.
Who can do this
Permission matrix, module Membership, row Courses and content: View (open), Create (create, add modules and lessons), Edit (change, publish, place on a bundle page), Delete (delete).
Common questions and problems
Supplementary content is not in the Course catalog. That is intended — it is not sold on its own.
I see no Product or Intro video card for it. Supplementary content does not have them.
A bundle member does not see the supplementary content. Check that it is Published and that its tile on the bundle page has been saved (Save).
I removed the tile and members lost the content. Access comes from the tile. Put it back — their progress was kept.
