How to launch a website on your own domain
What this walkthrough gets you
At the end you have a public website with several pages and a contact form, running on your domain (e.g. mycompany.com), with its contacts going into the CRM.
Before you start with a website on your own domain
- You own the domain and have access to its DNS management (or a contact to whoever manages DNS).
- The privacy policy address is filled in in the organization settings — without it the consent does not show in the form (Organization settings).
- You have the permissions listed in Who can follow this walkthrough.
Step 1: How to create a project
- In the left sidebar, click Content → Projects.
- At the top right, click New project, enter the Project name and click Create.
Details: Projects.
Step 2: How to generate the website
- In the empty project, click the Website card.
- In What site are we building?, describe the business, the audience, the pages and the character of the website.
- Through +, attach a logo and photos, or a Reference site; in Look, choose a style.
- Click Build it and wait for it to finish.
- To add another page click + next to Pages (New page): the window Ask for a new page in the chat opens, and you ask for the page in the chat (e.g. Create an About page).
Details: Website and pages.
Step 3: How to add a contact form
- In the content panel, click + next to Forms (New form). The form is created at once and its editor opens.
- In the form editor, overwrite the Form name, keep Form type → Lead collection, in the Consents card tick Privacy policy (branding) and click Save.
- Optionally add Email to address in Automations so you get a notification.
- Open a page (e.g. Contact), click Insert element → Form and pick the spot on the page. In the window Insert form into page choose the Form and Placement and click Insert. Then send the chat — the insert is carried out together with the message.
Details: Forms.
Step 4: How to polish the content
- Adjust the texts directly with Edit text or in the chat.
- Replace pictures (hover over a picture → Edit).
- Check the Mobile preview.
Details: Studio editor.
Step 5: How to set up SEO
- In the icon strip, click SEO.
- Fill in Title and Description, upload the Favicon and the Default share image.
- If you measure traffic, fill in the IDs in Measurement and pixels.
- Click Save.
Details: Project settings and SEO.
Step 6: How to publish the website
- In the top bar, click Publish.
- Check the website in a private window at Our address (the Addresses panel in Settings).
Details: Publishing.
Step 7: How to attach the domain
- In the project Settings, enter the domain in Custom domain and click Attach.
- At your DNS provider, set the A record as shown in the guide.
- Click Check again until Verified appears.
Details: Custom domain.
How to check the website works
- Open
https://<your domain>in a private window. The website must appear with a padlock (HTTPS). - Submit the contact form with test details and check the new client in Clients.
- Open
https://<your domain>/sitemap.xml— it must list the website's pages.
