Custom domain
What a custom domain is for
Every project has an address on the Doubleros platform (Our address) and works without a custom domain. If you want the project's website and funnels to run on your own address — for example mycompany.com or courses.mycompany.com —, you attach a custom domain to the project.
You do not buy the domain in Doubleros. You must already own it and set one A record at your DNS provider. Doubleros does not change any records at the provider.
Where to find the custom domain
- In the left sidebar, click Content → Projects.
- Click the project card.
- In the narrow icon strip on the left, click the cog (Settings). In a narrower window (below 1200 px), click Expand menu in the top bar and choose Settings under the Project heading.
- The Custom domain card is in the left column. On the right is the Addresses panel with the domain's state.
How to attach a custom domain
Before you start
- You own the domain and can manage its DNS (or know the administrator who can).
- You need the Projects → Edit permission in the permission matrix.
- If another website or e-mail already runs on the domain, use a subdomain for the project (e.g.
courses.mycompany.com). Do not change nameservers or e-mail MX/TXT records. - Attach exactly the address you will use (with or without
www). The platform redirects the other variant to the attached address if you set the same A record for it too — the guide only shows the record for the attached address. - A domain can belong to only one project on the whole platform.
Step 1: Enter the domain in the project
- In the Custom domain card, type the domain without
https://into the Domain field (e.g.mydomain.com). - Click Attach (or press Enter). The button is disabled until the domain has a valid shape.
| Field | Required | Meaning | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Domain | yes | the address the project should run on | the domain only — no https://, path or port; if you paste them, they are removed (We removed https:// — the domain on its own is enough.); 3 to 255 characters |
Domain attached appears. The card keeps the domain name and the button Detach domain. On the right of Settings, below the Addresses panel, the DNS check starts, and the button Check again and the guide Connect your domain step by step appear.
Step 2: Set the A record at your DNS provider
In the guide Connect your domain step by step (right side of Settings, below the Addresses panel):
- In 1. Open DNS management, choose your provider in Who manages your DNS? (Websupport is preselected): Websupport, VEDOS / WEDOS, FORPSI, Cloudflare or Other provider / not sure. A short guide and the button Open official guide appear.
- In 2. Set the A record, fill in Domain opened at your provider — the domain whose DNS you are editing (for
courses.mycompany.comthis is usuallymycompany.com). The guide uses it to calculate the record name. - At the provider, create or edit a record with the values from the guide (copy them with Copy):
| Value | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Type | A |
| Name / host | as shown in the guide; for the root domain Leave the field empty (with Cloudflare and another provider @), for a subdomain the part before the domain (e.g. courses) |
| Value / IPv4 address | the platform IP address from the guide |
- Keep the default TTL and do not change other records.
- With Cloudflare, use DNS only (grey cloud) — with the proxy on, the domain is not verified.
If the guide says The platform has not provided a target IP address. Do not change DNS yet; contact the platform administrator., do not change DNS and contact the platform administrator.
If you do not manage the DNS yourself, click Copy instructions for administrator in the Not working? / Ask your administrator section and send the copied text to your domain administrator. No password is needed.
Step 3: Verify the connection
- Save the record at the provider.
- Go back to the project Settings and click Check again below the Addresses panel (or the arrow icon in the Addresses panel header). The check also runs on its own when the settings open.
- Wait for the result. A DNS change can take several hours. Do not add a duplicate record while waiting.
| Result | Meaning |
|---|---|
| label Verified, text DNS points to the platform. Open the address to check HTTPS and published content. | done; the project's links switch to your domain |
| label Waiting for DNS, text The domain currently points to … | the A record points to a different IP address; fix the record value |
| The domain does not resolve yet — a DNS change can take several hours. | the record is not visible yet; wait and check again |
| The domain check could not be completed | try again later |
Until the domain is verified, the project's links go to Our address (label links go here). After the first successful verification the links stay on the domain even if a later DNS check fails; the label on the Primary row always shows the result of the latest check.
How to check it works
- Make sure the project is published (Publishing). An unpublished project shows This page is under construction on the domain.
- Open
https://<your domain>in the browser. - Check the padlock (HTTPS) and the correct home page. Do not bypass a certificate warning — wait a while and try again.
- In the Studio, click the Open in a new tab icon in the middle of the top bar (next to the page switcher) and choose Open on the custom domain (or Open on the Doubleros address).
How to change or detach the domain
The domain cannot be overwritten — detach it first, then attach a new one.
- In Settings, in the Custom domain card, click the red Detach domain.
- In the Detach domain dialog (The project will stop answering on … and go back to its address here. The content is untouched.), click the confirm button Delete.
- Domain detached appears.
The project then answers only on Our address. If you want a different domain, enter it as described in How to attach a custom domain. You can delete or change the A record at your provider.
When a project is deleted, its domain is released automatically.
Who can attach domains
| What you want to do | Permission needed |
|---|---|
| see the attached domain and addresses | Projects → View |
| attach, check (including the automatic DNS check on opening) and detach a domain | Projects → Edit |
Without the Edit permission the DNS check ends with The domain check could not be completed.
Common questions and problems with the domain
"The domain … is already used by another project." The domain is attached to another project (possibly in another organization). Detach it there, or use a subdomain.
"Enter the domain on its own, for example mydomain.com — no https:// and no path." The domain does not have a valid shape. It needs at least two parts separated by a dot (e.g. mycompany.com).
The Attach button is grey. The Domain field is empty or has an invalid shape.
The domain still says "Waiting for DNS". Check that you have an A record (not a CNAME) with the IP address from the guide, that there is no old A, AAAA or CNAME record for the same address, and that you edit DNS at the provider whose nameservers the domain really uses. With Cloudflare, turn the proxy off.
mycompany.com works but www.mycompany.com does not. The guide only configures the attached address (The www and non-www addresses are different hostnames.). Add the same A record for www at your provider — the platform then redirects www.mycompany.com to mycompany.com.
The domain shows "This page is under construction". DNS is fine, but the project (website or home funnel) is not published.
Why does the confirm button for detaching say "Delete"? The domain is only detached from the project; the project content is not deleted.
